The Bread Basket Cake Company, owned by Gilbert and Paul Delagnes, has been impressing customers with rich and delicious desserts for over two decades.
Gilbert Delagnes was born in Sonoma County, the heart of California’s wine country. He learned early in life that special occasions with friends and family often centered around a wonderful meal, and beautiful desserts. His love for culinary arts brought him to study under Jean and Anne who owned Costeaux French Bakery in Healdsburg, CA. He then opened Michel’s Croissant Shop in Menlo Park, CA., before moving to Southern California to buy the Bread Basket Cake Company in 1988.
The Bread Basket has been voted Ventura County’s Best Bakery for more than 15 years; invited to create pastries for Bon Appetite, Williams-Sonoma, Taste of Los Angeles, Wendy Williams Show, Wolfgang Puck’s American Wine & Food Festival and a number of celebrities; highlighted in Modern Bride, Westlake Magazine, Inside Weddings and the Los Angeles Times; and featured on pop-culture TV shows The Wedding Story and Queer Eye for the Straight Girl. The Bread Basket Cake Company has a reputation for creating the finest and most unique specialty cakes. They have designed and presented cakes for the Kids Choice and MTV Movie Awards, Emmy’s, Golden Globes and Oscar Gift Lounges.
Owners Gilbert and Paul Delagnes have the imagination of true artists using only the finest culinary products available, including fresh berries from local farms, pure Belgian chocolate, authentic French whipped cream and top-shelf liquors.
